Background and Description
Folk Stories is a collection of three original literary folk tales: "The Girl and the Troll," "Two Bags of Gold," and "The Young Boy and the Old Man." I wrote these at different times in my writing career, the first two while I was working on an academic piece about the history of fables. The last one while doing research on a book about the history of the alphabet and the writing process (which resulted in two other books: Till Year's Good End and Magic in the Margins). The first books I started collecting—and studying—were books on folk and fairy tales, from original tales to retellings to historical analyses. Folk Stories is the result of contemplating this rich cultural and literary history.
