Background and Description
While browsing the shelves of an open-air book fair, I picked up a book on the artist Mary Anna Robertson, a.k.a. Grandma Moses. Two things struck me: she painted the same part of upstate New York over and over again, through all seasons; and she always included lots of children. Instantly, I thought of a picture book for the primary grade reader that told her story and presented a dozen or more of her paintings. Add excerpts from her memoirs on every page and even the intermediate and middle grade reader might like this book.
